Thanks for everyone's patience as we struggled through some strange server stability issues with today's patch.
To be honest, we are still trying to fully understand the cause of the issues. It has turned out to be an uncommonly difficult problem to debug. We believe the issue is isolated somewhere in the purchasing/rental processes inside the match lobby, in which a set of circumstances happens that gets the game into a recursive loop of badness.
For the moment, we seem to have stabilized the environment, but have had to disable the following features to do so:
1) We removed the Rotating Free Gods
2) We removed the ability to rent gods
3) We removed the ability to ban gods in the match lobby
4) We removed the Ranked queue
It is possible we may still have some intermittent server issues even with these steps in place, but this has drastically improved the stability.
We are continuing to investigate and will get this functionality back as soon as we can. We are also working on additional bug fixes and balance changes to hopefully put out right after Christmas.
Thanks again for your patience. We apologize for the inconvenience. The scope of the changes in this release were huge (not only the features you see, but there is a good deal of additional new backend changes that have gone in as well that will help us a ton in the long haul, but have to be fleshed out in the near term).
I'll keep updating this post with more comments or what not from hi-rez on the servers.
Big public message came over in game command that "A queue update will be coming in a minute". So now we wait.
"Queue's will be back up shortly, thanks for your paitence" @11:11 p.m. eastern.
