ATLANTA, GA -- Today's Bart stream featured a plethora of discussions. Among the guests in the conversation were ROOT's Shing, HiRezErez, and HiRezBart himself.
The talks were mainly about strategies, as Shing and Bart noted that the current metagame consisted of lane farming until the 17-19 minute mark, where teamfights would break out on important objectives.
Notably, Shing raised the important issue of wards, towers, and minion knockback that encourages and supports extreme passive play. Among other issues discussed was the apparent drop of Physical Ranged Carry usage due to the infamous Hide of the Nemean Lion
issue. (Notably, it was agreed that functionality was fine, but price was an issue.)
Wards, more importantly, have been called out recently for their duration, low cost, and aid in line of sight (currently, wards operate on a radius, which means a good ward placement can expose entire jungle routes). With the addition of the red/blue player visibility silhouettes, wards have been criticized for their overt vision.
Of course, many things were discussed in the talks, but the most important comments came from Hi-Rez Studio's Erez, who stated that the following features would be added in the upcoming patch/future patches:
-Towers will increase gold earned by 5% for each tower destroyed (maximum of 30%)
-Gold per second will be reduced to 2 (previously 3)
-A new ability will be introduced that buffs minions for stronger pushing.
-Cripple, a new effect, will be added. Cripple prevents enemy players from using certain character abilities--specifically, leaps and dashes. Poseidon will have this in one of his abilities, as well as being added to several already-released gods. Artemis will be among these gods.
-Hand of the Gods will receive a buff. It will now insta-kill any mob under 10%. (Fire Giant and Gold Fury as well.) (Minotaur is not included.)
-Recolors will soon be available for all gods.
-Odin will no longer be slowed during Ring of Spears.
-The price of wards will be increased to 75 gold.
-The ranked system will receive several changes over the next month.
Erez also stated that wards may have a line of sight added to them in the near future. Following the reveal of Poseidon, the patch was announced as releasing on Thursday, February 28th, 2013.
Poseidon's abilities are as follows:
1. A "water slug" that side-knocks enemies backward.
2. A steroid that releases 3 auto-attacks at once and increases his movement speed (only the middle attack will proc item effects; all three attacks help charge the passive).
3. A whirlpool that slows and cripples (meaning enemies cannot escape as explained above--they can still walk out of this ability).
Poseidon has been fully voiced and animated, as well as featuring a passive that gives him additional ability damage as he auto-attacks more.
The overall talks were extremely enlightening. Today's conversation gave the viewers a look into the mind of Shing as well as some interesting tidbits for the new patch and future patches. As always, we'll continue to keep you updated on the latest SMITE and eSport occurrences.
